About

Hi. I'm Shakeel, a maker and electronics enthusiast. This blog is a glimpse into my electronics learning, testing and related projects at various levels.

At Maker Faire Lisbon in Portugal: I'm discovering various electronic projects

My username BlinkMaker is inspired from the following two words:
1. Blink - when getting started with microcontrollers, usually the first project is to blink an LED, which is similar to the ‘Hello, World!’ of programming.
2. Maker - I felt very inspired by the global Maker culture and the friendly community sharing great ideas and expert knowledge.

My motivation

I’ve stumbled across many impressive projects which surprisingly turned out to be open source. The hard work by the community of makers is admirable and no doubt very appreciated. Anyone with internet access can improve their knowledge and skills. This blog aims to promote the same mindset of sharing knowledge. I hope that my posts will be useful to other electronic hobbyists, enthusiasts and students. Feedback, suggestions and improvements are most welcome.

Proudly part of the Maker Movement

I’m a fan and supporter of the Maker culture. I believe that knowledge should be shared for the greater good and to inspire more people to create, make, fix and improve things in their life. A lot of work has gone into the projects showcased on this website. The project code and designs can be freely used and tweaked.

Exploring the World of Electronics through DIY Projects

Join me on a thrilling adventure as we dive into the fascinating world of DIY projects using Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, and other incredible tools. In this blog, I'll be sharing my personal experiences and insights gained from working on various electronics projects. From simple beginner-friendly endeavors to complex creations, we'll explore the endless possibilities these platforms offer.

Arduino: Unleashing Creativity

Let's start our journey with Arduino, an open-source electronics platform that has revolutionized the DIY community. As a beginner, I was amazed by the versatility and ease of use that Arduino provided. Its user-friendly development environment and vast array of compatible sensors and modules opened up a world of possibilities for me.

One of my earliest projects involved building a weather station using Arduino and a collection of sensors. Through this project, I learned the basics of coding, sensor integration, and data visualization. It was an exhilarating experience to witness my creation come to life and start displaying real-time weather data.

ESP8266: Connecting the Internet of Things

As I delved deeper into the DIY electronics realm, I discovered the ESP8266, a low-cost Wi-Fi module with incredible capabilities. This tiny marvel allowed me to connect my projects to the internet and explore the vast possibilities of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Building a home automation system was one of my most rewarding experiences with the ESP8266. By connecting various devices such as lights, fans, and even my coffee maker to the module, I could control them remotely using a web interface or smartphone app. The ESP8266's ability to communicate seamlessly with other devices transformed my living space into a smart home.

ESP32: Empowering Advanced Projects

The ESP32, an upgraded version of the ESP8266, soon captured my attention. With more processing power, increased memory, and integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, the ESP32 unlocked new horizons for my projects.

One of my favorite projects involving the ESP32 was creating a home security system. I utilized the board's capabilities to integrate multiple sensors, including motion detectors, door/window sensors, and a camera module. The system would instantly notify me via a smartphone app if any suspicious activity was detected. The ESP32's reliability and robustness played a vital role in ensuring the safety of my home.

Sharing the DIY Journey

Throughout my DIY adventure, I realized the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences with fellow enthusiasts. I started my own blog to document my projects, share tutorials, and engage with a vibrant community of like-minded individuals.

In this blog, I cover a wide range of topics, including step-by-step project guides, troubleshooting tips, and innovative ideas for taking your DIY projects to the next level. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced maker, you'll find valuable resources to enhance your skills and ignite your creativity.
